Sri Lanka spinners did the trick!

Pakistan began their 2nd innings with just 167 needed for victory. They started the day with just 91 required for victory, with 8 wickets in hand. Salman Butt & the Pakistani hero of 1st innings, Mohd Yousuf was there in the middle. But Sri Lankan bowlers have other ideas. Thilan Thushara & Rangana Herath bowled excellent spells of left arm pace & spin to help Sri Lanka take the last 8 wickets for just 46 runs.

Pakistani batsmen looked vulnerable against left arm spin bowling. Especially, Ranagan Herath’s previous best performance was also against Pakistan. He started the Pakistani collapse with his first ball of the day, trapping Yousuf leg before. He followed with the crucial wicket of Salman Butt without giving a run.

Then Thilan Thushara joined the party with his left arm fast bowling. He bowled exceptionally well in his eight over spell & didn’t conceded even one loose delivery. He got the wicket of Shoaib Malik & Kamran Akmal & Misbah-ul-Haq followed quickly, leaving Pakistan in a desperate situation.

The match was virtually over by this time & Ajantha Mendis was yet to bowl! He finished his part by taking Umar Gul’s wicket. Herath then finished the job quickly making Kumar Sangakkara flaunt his smile.
