Ashes: The Preview

England’s Cardiff will host its first ever test match & what a match this would be. It will be the first test match of the great Ashes Series. The two teams will have many new faces in their respective squads, but mind you – the passion will be the same in the 122 year old rivalry.

England would be playing under a new Ashes captain in Andrew Strauss & two iconic players – Kevin Pietersen & Andrew Flintoff. All three were the part of that Engish team which defeated Australia in the drama in 2005. On the other side, some fans are calling it last Ashes series for the Australian Captain Ricky Ponting (at least in England). Just like the last time, Australia would be without the ‘Fab 4’ – Shane Warne, Glenn Mcgrath, Adam Gilchrist & Justin Langer. This time, Mathew Hayden would also be not there. Team Australia is now under a re-building process & this might just excite the English team.

England can even gain No 1 Test spot if they beat Australia 5-0 in the series, but for me, that would be the dream of the century. On the other hand, Australia could be dethroned from their top spot if England could even manage a draw.

I hope for a great Ashes Series & join me regularly for more updates on the series.
